Amish Apple Dumplings

Amish Apple Dumplings are a classic dessert made with apples wrapped in pie crust, baked in a buttery brown sugar and cinnamon sauce. Simple to make and best served warm with ice cream, they’re the perfect cozy treat for fall or anytime you’re craving comfort food.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 package refrigerator pie crust
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 4 tablespoons water
  • 4 apples peeled and cored
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • dash cinnamon

Instructions
 

  • Cut each pie crust in half, wrap one apple in each piece
  • In a small saucepan, melt butter, then add brown sugar, water, and cinnamon and cook over a low flame until all melted together.
  • In an 8” pie plate or 8 x 8 square pan (coated with cooking spray), place wrapped apples and pour sauce over apples, making sure all the apples are covered with the sauce.
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 40 to 50 minutes until apples are cooked and dumplings are golden brown
  • Best if served warm with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream
